Figurescape – 98 (1997 – 1998)

Figurescape 98 is the artist’s 5th major solo exhibition. In large scale paintings and drawings the exhibition explores the aesthetic relationship between landscape and the figure. Followers of Shelton’s work will note the obvious thematic link from his previous showing Falling Down (1997). Using a palette that reflects the depth and brilliance of colour and tone in the Australian landscape, this exhibition further developes the artists interest in the female form withing carefully considered compositions.
